The first-annual OCEAN DAY festival was to be held on March 28, 2020 at the Hallandale Beach Cultural Community Center (free public event). Planning for OCEAN DAY 2020 started in Summer 2019 and was timed to also help honor the 50th Anniversary of EARTH DAY and take the place of Hallandale Beach's long-running annual Greenfest. Moreover, OCEAN DAY was created as a way for two neighboring coastal cities (Hallandale Beach & Hollywood) to work with Broward County and local NPO/NGO's on the common goal of conserving and protecting our coastal zone.

With the advantage of being indoors and weather-proof, OCEAN DAY March 2020 was going to host about 40 different pro-environmental conservation exhibitors inside a large auditorium, complemented by several expert panels and notable speakers in quiet side room, with special guests stopping by throughout the day. To make things even more interesting, we were going to feature unique OCEAN DAY workshops, classes, films, free paper shredding, native plant & tree distribution, family-fun activities, and much more all around the nearby Hallandale City Hall Complex.
You can see most of what was planned at the archived webpage for the March 2020 OCEAN DAY live event.

But then something tragic happened in early 2020 that change the world as know it: The
Covid-19 Pandemic...And the first annual OCEAN DAY had to be indefinitely postponed.

Along with countless EARTH DAY@50 organizers and special event producers around the world, the dedicated OCEAN DAY organizers and sponsors were sadly disappointed to have to cancel our first annual festival on short notice in March 2020 due to the Covid-19 public health crisis.

While OCEAN DAY’s future looked grim in Spring of 2020, by Summer we became optimistic with the opportunity to reboot some key OCEAN DAY education components safely online for a practically unlimited audience. With modest advertising, over 400 people registered for the 3 lunchtime Webinars held between Dec. 2020 and Feb. 2021, yielding large "live" webinar audiences for each Webinar that provided great questions and immediate feedback.

The OCEAN DAY Webinar recordings will remain online at FOFR's YouTube Channel as a valuable free and searchable educational resource for years to come - please share them with your friends and family!
